Following MBS visit, Iraqi PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi visited Iran

• Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi arrives in Tehran for talks with Iranian officials.
• Visit comes after he was personally received by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
• The pair discussed “efforts to push towards calm and constructive dialogue,” his office said.

Following MBS visit, Iraqi PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi visited Iran. Following a trip to Saudi Arabia, Iraq’s Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi; led a high-level team to Tehran on Sunday; to meet with Iranian leaders. Iranian official television shows al-Kadhimi being formally welcomed by President Ebrahim Raisi. Following a brief trip to Jeddah on Saturday night; Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman personally welcomed; the head of Iraq.

According to Al-office, Kadhimi’s in addition to bilateral ties; he and the crown prince spoke about “efforts to push towards calm and constructive conversation” and topics; “that would contribute to supporting and strengthening regional security and stability.”

The Iraqi prime minister’s visit is in keeping with his prior attempts; to promote communication between Tehran and Riyadh; two regional rivals that back opposing parties in Yemen’s; more than seven-year conflict.
