According to a survey conducted by the Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV) on Islamophobia, most anti-Muslim tweets originate in India.

The ICV, a Muslim organization, established in Australia that represents 270,000 community members, discovered that 55.12% of Indian Twitter post is Islamophobic.

The study concluded that politicians’ remarks could have a “considerable impact on the prevalence of Islamophobia.”

Together, three nations accounted for 86% of all anti-Muslim comments on the microblogging site.

Last year, the United Nations warned that Islamophobia had reached “epidemic proportions.” Twitter has done nothing to delete anti-Muslim content, despite calls from the international community to combat anti-Muslim prejudice.

During this period, the ICV discovered nearly four million anti-Muslim posts, of which only 14.83 percent were removed.

During the years 2017-2019, the majority of material originated from the United Kingdom, the United States, and India, according to the study’s findings.

According to TRT World, social media users in India accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of the dissemination and amplification of bigotry and hatred.

The report also indicates that former U.S. President Donald Trump frequently appeared (tied for third) in anti-Muslim posts. Islamophobia in the United Kingdom is not limited to social media, as evidenced by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s frequent comparisons of niqab-wearing Muslim women to “letter boxes.”
