Canadian gunman who killed five spoke about electrical room vibrations

Three estranged daughters of a 73-year-old man who killed five people near Toronto said he was a “controlling and cruel husband and father.”

In a statement provided by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit, Francesco Villi’s daughters expressed sympathy for the victims’ families.

Francesco Villi was an abusive husband and parent. He’s abused his children’s mothers and daughters. He had a Jekyll-and-Hyde personality, they wrote.

Villi attacked neighbors on three floors of his Vaughan, Ontario, building on Sunday, murdering three men and two women and injuring a 66-year-old woman. Authorities say a responding officer shot and killed Villi.

Rita Camilleri, 57; Vittorio Panza, 79; Russell Manock, 75; Lorraine Manock, 71; and Naveed Dada, 59. Three had condo boards.

Villi long alleged in recordings and court records that vibrations, noises, and emissions from the building’s electrical room made him unwell. He blamed board members and the building’s developer.

“We are in shock and sadness,” Villi’s children stated.

The unnamed children said they haven’t seen him in five years.

“His children tried to have a relationship throughout the years, but many offers of support were rebuffed, leaving them little alternative except to cut ties,” they wrote.

The attack came the day before an online court session where condo lawyers were to argue that Villi should be evicted for years of harassing building personnel, board members, and neighbors.

At least two condo managers departed because of him, while security guards quit or changed hours to avoid him. Villi allegedly swore at and filmed residents.
