Birmingham murder inquiry after street stabbing
A manhunt has been launched to find the murderer, and the area...
A 23-year-old guy was stabbed to death on the dance floor of a Birmingham nightclub, and a murder inquiry is already underway.
At The Crane in Digbeth, Adderley Street, the guy suffered fatal injuries on December 26 soon about 23:45 GMT.
He was declared dead around 30 minutes later despite efforts to rescue him, according to West Midlands Police.
Det Insp Michelle Thurgood remarked, “This was a young man enjoying himself with friends on a Boxing Day night out.
The incident occurred during a Boxing Day event that began at 15:00 GMT and included well-known techno DJ Marco Carola.
Police want anyone in the club who saw what happened to get in touch because they believe the victim was approached by a group before being stabbed.
“We know there were hundreds of people in the nightclub at the time,” added Det Insp Thurgood.
“While we’ve spoken to a number of them already, we still need to hear from anyone who was there and who witnessed or even filmed what happened.”
Although no one has been arrested, the location is still cordoned as police gather information and examine security camera footage.
Police noted that neighborhood officers will be patrolling the area over the next few days to provide comfort.
The incident, which occurred just before the celebration was scheduled to end at midnight, left the venue’s personnel “extremely startled and devastated,” according to a statement.
It said “our thoughts are with the victim, and his family and friends” and staff were working closely with investigators.
The Crane has cancelled a New Year’s Eve event.
