Palestinian health officials reported that an Israeli guard had killed a Palestinian teen in the vicinity of an illegal Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank.

In the midst of escalating tensions following Israeli forces’ killing of at least nine people in a Jenin refugee camp earlier this week.

The Palestinian Health Ministry claimed on Sunday that Karam Ali Ahmad Salman, 18, was shot and killed by “the Israeli occupation near the settlement of Kedumim.”

Israeli soldiers have already killed more than 30 Palestinians this year.

The government further stated that Kedumim was erected on Palestinian land that was privately owned.

The Israeli army claimed Salman was “armed with a handgun” and was shot by a “civilian security team”.

Since the 1967 War, Israel has been occupying the West Bank, and settlements are viewed as illegal under international law.

The incident comes following a string of assaults that saw nine Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers in the Jenin refugee camp on Thursday.

One of the deadliest days in the occupied West Bank occurred on that same day when an Israeli soldier shot and killed a Palestinian man in the village of al-Ram, north of Jerusalem.

In the occupied West Bank, 2022 was, according to the UN, the worst year for Palestinians since 2005, with at least 170 fatalities, including more than 30 children, and 9,000 injuries.

Meanwhile, Israeli settlers north of Ramallah set fire to the home of a Palestinian family on Saturday. No one was inside the house when it was set on fire, according to Media.

“We learned the family have left the occupied Palestinian territories,” he added, speaking from Ramallah. “Activists and eye witnesses say there has been a rise in attacks since Friday night.”

On Friday, a Palestinian attacker shot dead seven people near a synagogue in occupied East Jerusalem before being fatally shot.

In response to the attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans on Saturday to make it easier for Israelis to get firearms, a move seen as “collective punishment” and one that could further increase the violence.

On Friday, Israel also conducted many airstrikes against the Gaza Strip’s blockade. Local sources in Gaza informed Media that at least 13 attacks by Israeli jets in the early hours of Friday targeted the al-Maghazi refugee camp in the territory’s center.

According to the Israeli army, the airstrikes on Gaza, which has 2.1 million inhabitants and is one of the world’s most densely populated territories, came after two rockets were fired at Israel at around midnight (22:00 GMT).
