The death toll in Turkey from the earthquakes on Monday, according to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is now at least 9,057.
Rescue teams are still looking for people who may be buried beneath mountains of wreckage.
A total of 2,662 more people have died in Syria, according to figures compiled by the Damascus government and rescue organizations operating in areas controlled by rebels.
According to the most recent statistics, there have been 11,719 fatalities.
Blinken calls the earthquake-related fatalities in Turkey and Syria “shocking.”
Over 11,700 people have died as a result of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who called the death toll “really startling, devastating.”
More than 150 search and rescue professionals have been sent from the United States to Turkey, according to Blinken, who added that Washington will have more to say in the coming days about how it will continue to assist the people of Turkey and Syria as they recover from the disaster.
