A local official in the Russian-occupied city of Mariupol claims that Ukrainian forces have attacked Russian facilities close to the airport and a steel factory.

There have been three explosions so far on Thursday, according to Petro Andriushchenko, an advisor to the Ukrainian mayor of the city.

“Two of them hit the closed territory of Ilyich Iron and Steel Works in the area of the penal colony,” he said in a post on his official Telegram channel. “The Armed Forces of Ukraine with surgical precision hit the bases of the occupiers.”

“Russians have raised aircraft over Mariupol again. Yesterday it didn’t help, do they hope today it will be different,” Andriushchenko said.

In May 2022, Russian forces seized control of Mariupol. Vadym Boichenko, the Ukrainian mayor of the city, moved last February to a region under Ukrainian rule.

In the past, Andriushchenko has compiled information from local city sources.
