After a dog attacked a Royal Mail employee and pursued him down, the entire street in Liverpool has been without mail for almost six months.

In September, mail delivery to Ash Vale in Wavertree was halted out of concern for public safety.

The dog “still offers a substantial and ongoing risk,” according to Royal Mail, and the company is taking precautions to protect its employees.

According to authorities, the owner has been accused of having authority over a dog that was dangerously out of control and was inflicting harm.

On September 10, a Royal Mail employee was bitten and chased, according to Merseyside Police.

A 36-year-old man who is the dog’s owner is scheduled to appear in Liverpool Magistrates’ court later this month.

A Royal Mail representative apologized to the impacted residents and said the corporation was awaiting a “safe resolution”.

“Following a serious dog-related injury to a postman, we are acting to ensure the safety and wellbeing of colleagues working in Ash Vale,” the spokeswoman said.

“The dog that resides at a property on that road still presents a serious and ongoing risk to our colleagues.

“We are in contact with the local authorities on a regular basis and they are keeping us informed of the current situation.”

Those who are impacted are encouraged to pick up their mail at a Customer Service Point on Wellington Road nearby, designate a person to pick it up on their behalf, or arrange to have it sent to another nearby home.
