Boy, aged 11, dies in east London flat fire
Following a fire in an apartment in east London, an 11-year-old kid has passed away. At 03:25 GMT, emergency personnel were sent to a three-room apartment fire in Stern Close, Barking.
Before the firefighters arrived, two adults and two kids who were inside the second-floor apartment left. They were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening wounds.
Flames “destroyed” the apartment, according to the London Fire Brigade (LFB). It has an impact on nine properties.
There is currently no indication of anything unusual, according to the Met Police, who confirmed an inquiry has been opened.
A message has been sent to the boy’s kin.
According to LFB, the fire was put out by 05:18 after six fire engines and about 40 firemen from Barking, East Ham, and nearby fire stations were summoned to the area.
The event was attended by London Ambulance Service personnel who treated a second male.
Several families have been harmed, according to Barking and Dagenham London Borough Council chairman Darren Rodwell.
He said his “thoughts and prayers” were with the family of the boy who died.
“Our hearts go out to everyone affected. We’re aware that some residents have lost everything including their homes and possessions.
“We will be continuing to support our residents with their needs including accommodation and emotional support.”
