RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court has announced that Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Friday, March 20, 2026, after the Shawwal crescent was not sighted anywhere in the Kingdom.

Observatories and Hilal (crescent) sighting committees across Saudi Arabia held meetings to sight the Shawwal crescent, while the Supreme Court also appealed to citizens to report any sightings.

However, no verified moon sighting was received from anywhere in the Kingdom. After reviewing all reports, the Supreme Court officially announced that Ramadan 1447 AH will complete 30 days.

Accordingly, the first day of Shawwal 1447 AH will be Friday, March 20, 2026, marking the celebration of Eid al-Fitr with religious fervor across Saudi Arabia.
