Saudi authorities issue guidelines for Pakistani travellers
RIYADH: The Saudi authorities have issued new guidelines regarding Covid-19 for travellers...
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has urged the US government to expedite the clearance of the AstraZeneca vaccine in order to assist restore essential transatlantic travel.
The Pfizer vaccine was approved this week by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the primary health authority in the United States.
However, AstraZeneca is still not recognized as an approved Covid-19 vaccination.
Even if the Biden Administration allows borders to reopen, AstraZeneca’s non-recognition will be a substantial obstacle to transatlantic travel between the UK and the US, according to the WTTC.
The majority of Brits, and many millions more across the world, who have been immunized with AstraZeneca medicine will effectively be barred from entering the country.
AstraZeneca has the broadest worldwide reach of any current vaccine, having been administered in 176 nations and territories, emphasizing the importance of its approval in the United States.
According to the WTTC, CDC non-recognition will continue to substantially weaken consumer demand and hinder any meaningful revival of transatlantic travel from the United Kingdom to the United States.
It will also have a significant impact on the tourism industry on both sides of the Atlantic.
