US slam Russia food-for-sanctions plan

The US has rejected a request by Russian President Vladimir Putin to ease grain and fertiliser exports in exchange for the lifting of sanctions against his country, blaming the Kremlin for stifling shipments and raising fears of global food shortages.

According to CNN, the United States might reveal a fresh package of help for Ukraine as soon as next week, which would include long-range rocket launchers and other modern weaponry.

A record amount of Russian oil is on board tankers, with the majority of it bound for India or China, while other countries ban imports due to the Ukraine conflict.
