Asif Muhammad, the well-known Pakistani Mr. Bean, has spoken out about the laughter his attendance at an event in Harare created after Zimbabwe defeated Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 match. Asif Muhammad first gained notoriety on social media following the match.

Long before the cricket match, Asif was confused for the actual Mr. Bean, English actor Rowan Atkinson, during an agricultural event in Harare.

Asif, a former textile trader who now deals in real estate, got his start in the comedic world when a Pakistani television network called him about appearing in a programme about performers who look like their doppelgängers. In 2016, he received an invitation from two Indian businessmen to visit Zimbabwe. While some of his admirers in Harare were convinced he was the actual Mr. Bean, the truth devastated many people’s hearts.

Asif said in a media interview: “I am a duplication, but if the leaders of Zimbabwe and Pakistan can joke about me to each other after Zimbabwe’s triumph, my goal of making the world laugh has been accomplished. After Pakistan was defeated, there was some teasing because of me. What more do I need?”

Asif added, “When businessmen Muhammad Arif and Muhammad Anees discussed the idea of having me as the brand ambassador at the exhibition in Harare, I was delighted. To meet kids in markets and streets in Harare and seeing them believe I was the real Mr. Bean was my biggest earning from that trip.”

“A lot of Indians would also come to meet me at the residence of Anees and would ask me for autographs and selfies. The hospitality was ten times more than I get in Pakistan,” Asif concluded.
