Pakistan elects to bat in the first Test against England
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat in the first Test...
On the first day of the Test series, Pakistan has already lost two wickets against England at the Old Trafford, Manchester.
English bowlers Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer took the wickets. In the 15th over, Archer claimed the first wicket against Pakistan and stumped out Abid Ali. He only had made 6 runs.
Pakistan captain Azhar Ali got out by Woakes. Currently, Babar Azam and Shan Masood are playing on the field.
After winning the toss, Azhar Ali decided to bat first. He said,
“We can’t control the weather but we are clear in our heads. We are going with two spinner and three pacers, with Shadab as an all-rounder.”
He added,
“You can not replace Test cricket with practice games, but we have prepared well and are looking forward to the encounter. Obviously, we are missing the crowd, we get a lot of support here, but hopefully, we can entertain them at home.”
On the other hand, England’s captain Joe Root was unclear whether his main player Ben Stokes will go on the field or not.
“We have tried to make the most of the practice days, we are unchanged, we would also probably have batted first. Ben is not quite 100% fit and it’s too big a risk, but his runs have been invaluable and he’s a huge part of the dressing room,” Root said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the first Test match between Pakistan and England has been started. Pakistan has won the toss and decided to bat first.
