Master Changan makes history as Pakistan’s Top Exporter

Master Changan Motors Ltd. (MCML), in collaboration with Changan International, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by exporting the first batch of 14 Oshan X7s to Kenya.

These vehicles are bound for the Kenyan and Tanzanian markets, marking a significant moment in the automotive industry. Last year, a prototype unit was sent to a country in the Oceania region.

Blazing a Trail in Pakistan’s SUV Export Endeavor Master Changan Motors Ltd. has secured a place in Pakistan’s history as the first exporter of technologically advanced SUVs entirely manufactured within Pakistan.

The Oshan X7, a testament to Pakistani engineering prowess, is poised to become the first SUV to enter global markets. This historic feat coincides with the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), highlighting the strong economic ties between Pakistan and China.

Danial Malik, the CEO, emphasized their vision:

“We are taking our next major step to achieve our vision of making Master Changan a part of Changan’s global vehicle supply chain under the ‘Vast Ocean Plan’, while putting Pakistan on the map for producing and exporting high-quality vehicles to the world. Kenya and Tanzania are one of the many countries where Master Changan Motors plans to leave its mark, as we look to expand our export volumes.”

Changan’s Ambitious ‘Vast Ocean’ Plan for Global Expansion At the prestigious 2023 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition on April 18th, 2023, Mr. Zhu Huarong, Chairman of Changan Automobile, unveiled the ambitious ‘Vast Ocean’ plan. This strategic initiative aims to accelerate Changan’s global expansion, propelling it to world-class status.

A significant investment of US$10 billion is allocated for the international market, with a primary focus on intelligent, low-carbon technology. Changan’s aspirations span across Europe, America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), with the goal of penetrating 90% of the world’s markets by 2030.

Master Changan Pakistan, serving as Changan’s right-hand drive (RHD) manufacturing hub, will play a vital role in executing the ‘Vast Ocean’ plan and catering to RHD markets globally.

Promoting Pakistani Auto Exports: The export of ‘Made in Pakistan’ vehicles is closely linked to the Federal Government’s policies aimed at strengthening and incentivizing the domestic automotive industry.

Collaborative efforts between the government and the automotive sector have produced proposals to enhance the long-term sustainability of auto exports.

Danial Malik expressed his gratitude, stating:

“We sincerely appreciate our government’s auto-export policy for 2021–2026,However, the auto industry needs the government to create policies that increase local production, leading to economies of scale, fostering deeper localization, and motivating automakers to enhance their global competitiveness.”

The Oshan X7: A Top-Tier SUV The 2023 Oshan X7 emerges as a leading SUV in its category, boasting impressive dimensions that command attention.

This Pakistani engineering marvel is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, delivering an efficient fuel economy of 14–15 km per liter and capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.23 seconds. Beyond its remarkable performance, the Oshan X7 captivates with its modern design and luxurious interior.
