There has been a notable rise in the prices of broiler meat throughout the country, as reported by a local news outlet. In Lahore, the cost of chicken meat has seen a sudden surge, increasing by Rs. 32 per kilogram in a single day to reach Rs. 612. Likewise, the price of live chicken has risen by Rs. 22, now standing at Rs. 422. However, the price of farm eggs has remained stable at Rs. 273 per dozen.

It’s worth mentioning that earlier this month, successful negotiations were held between the Poultry Association of Punjab and the provincial government regarding a reduction in the prices of chicken meat. The Association announced a decrease of Rs. 10 in the price of chicken meat in the open market. Additionally, the Poultry Association agreed to reduce the price of chicken by Rs. 25 per kilogram in the Ramadan markets.

Furthermore, there has been an increase in the prices of fruits and vegetables, adding to the financial strain on the average person who is already grappling with the country’s rising inflation. In Punjab’s capital, the prices are as follows: onions at Rs. 200 per kilogram, Kachnar at Rs. 300 per kilogram, bell peppers at Rs. 400 per kilogram, apples at Rs. 250 per kilogram, melons at Rs. 200 per kilogram, strawberries at Rs. 300 per kilogram, and bananas at Rs. 200 per dozen.

Meanwhile, in Peshawar, vegetable prices have started to decrease in response to a notice from the high court. However, the prices of live chicken have remained the same, currently at Rs. 450 per kilogram.
