Legislation has been enacted to promote 800,000 matric and intermediate students of Sindh without examinations.
According to details, after the bill to promote students without examinations was passed in the Sindh Assembly by a majority vote, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail signed the bill.
After the signature of Governor Sindh, the rules of Sindh Board of Technical Education, Sindh Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education were amended.
Under the Laws Amendment Act, Boards of Education have the power to promote students without a test. Students can be promoted without a test in case of an outbreak or a global outbreak.
Students will be promoted under the policy issued by the government. The amendment bill will be considered after June 1, 2020.
It may be recalled that a sub-committee of the steering committee of the education department had on May 16 suggested that school and college examinations were not possible in the event of a global epidemic. A sub-committee of the steering committee of the education department had suggested the promotion under government policy.
The existing law on boards of education has been amended as there is no scope for promotion without examinations.
