Johnny Depp mobbed by adoring fans during Rome Film Festival

Johnny Depp may be a pariah in the United States, but he still has a slew of fans outside the country, particularly in Italy where he’s a rock star.

Johnny appears as Johnny Puffin in the animated series, which is available on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.

Here is a clip of Johnny arriving at the Rome Film Festival on Sunday for the premiere of his new animated TV series, “Puffins” hitting the red carpet with a swarm of people cheering him on and singing his praises from afar as he graciously waved and played along.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star completed the look with a tan jacket and a variety of scarves, necklaces, sunglasses, and a hat.

Johnny is grateful for his fan’s support, as he takes his time to acknowledge everyone, bowing down to them at one point, and blowing kisses to everyone screaming his name. Normally, celebrities pose for the camera’s front and center, but he gave everyone on the outskirts a thumbs up.

Depp is currently embroiled in a legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard after losing a libel trial last year over an article that referred to him as a “wife-beater.”

He was quickly fired from projects he was attached to at the time and hasn’t been able to land a mainstream Hollywood gig since. And yet, many Europeans still welcome him with open arms despite apparently harboring hostility towards Amber Heard as we’ve recently seen.

Perhaps they are less inclined to believe what has been alleged against him, despite the fact that a court case did not end in his favor and another one is on the horizon. In any case, Johnny’s star clearly still shines for some.
