According to Express UK, Queen Elizabeth once expressed her desire to live a “normal” life and “mix” with the British people in a “heartbreaking” confession about the demands of being a ruler.
In his book, Her Majesty, royal biographer Andrew Morton said that the Queen had confessed that she wants to “mix” with her people as part of her regular existence, referring to the 96-year-old monarch who has served Britons for 70 years.
“She’s lived with those four letters, duty, throughout her life,” Morton stated on the UK TV show Lorraine.
“She’s also attempted to make sense of what she’s been forced to do – the solitude and loneliness of the work,” he continued.
“She was once in debate with Billy Graham, the famous America born-again evangelist,” Morton said. They were staring out the window of Buckingham Palace when he asked, “Wouldn’t you like to mix with those folks out there?” “And she replied, ‘with all my heart.'”

The writer went on to say that while Queen Elizabeth is the nation’s’matriarch,’ she has also had to remain ‘remote’ from her subjects.
“She is the nation’s matriarch, yet she is also remote.”
