The ongoing defamation trial of Hollywood actor Johnny Depp against ex-wife Amber Heard is making headlines around the world.

Meanwhile, the Pirates of the Caribbean star, who is currently on trial in the United Kingdom, is preparing to make his comeback as French King Louis XV in French director Maiwenn’s upcoming film.

After a lengthy absence, the Rum Diary star will return to the big screen. Jeanne Du Barry, the upcoming film, will be released for pre-sale at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.

The Maiwenn-directed film examines the life of Jeanne Bécu, played by Maiwenn herself, who rose from poverty to become King Louis XV’s mistress.

The film also stars Louis Garrel, Pierre Richard, and Noemie Lvovsky in pivotal roles, but no release date has been set, according to Deadline.

Depp, 58, has filed a $50 million lawsuit against Heard after she wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post detailing domestic abuse.

While she did not name the Tourist actor, he was fired from several roles, including his role as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean and his role as Grimes Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts series.
