Obi-Wan Kenobi discusses the final combat scene with Ewan McGregor

On June 22, the end of the Star Wars television series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, aired. The epic finale of the six-episode series included a confrontation between Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader and Ewan McGregor’s Jedi master. The Darth Vader actor recently opened up about his filming experience for the series finale, which received positive reviews from fans.

After the finale aired, Hayden addressed the media and described what it was like to film the scene that depicted the character-versus-character clash that would ultimately decide the fight. He stated: “It was a very emotional scene to shoot, and obviously a very important one.” It was something that I think everyone was very aware of just, like, stepping out on set that day. There was a very different feeling. For both Ewan and I, it was a rather emotional experience, and I think that comes across onscreen.

When Vader encountered his former master in the climax, one of the key scenes had Vader’s mask appearing to crumble. When telling Obi-Wan that his going to the dark side wasn’t a result of his failure as his Jedi Master, Christensen’s character briefly adopted Anakin Skywalker’s voice in the sequence.

Christensen is expected to play Anakin Skywalker again in the upcoming movie Ahsoka, which stars Rosario Dawson as the title character. However, it is still unclear if McGregor and Christensen’s Obi-Wan Kenobi will come back for a second season.
