Salman Khan wanted to star in Uunchai, but Sooraj Barjatya didn’t
Salman Khan made his Bollywood debut in 1988 with Biwi Ho To Aisi, but it wasn’t until the Sooraj Barjatya-helmed smash hit Maine Pyar Kiya that he received the recognition he deserved. In a recent interview, Sooraj Barjatya discussed how Salman Khan requested to be a part of his upcoming movie Uunchai, however, the director turned him down. Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher, and Neena Gupta are among the stars of Uunchai.
Together, Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya have appeared in a number of movies, including Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Hum Saath Saahi. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was their most recent movie together. Many people even think that Salman’s screen name, Prem, has been a lucky charm for Sooraj Barjatya throughout all of his films. In contrast, Sooraj passed on Uunchai.
Sooraj confessed that he wanted a different cast for Uunchai and had to refuse Salman’s request during the film’s trailer premiere event. He was quoted saying, “Like I said, ismein maine sab bandhan tod diye. Ek charm tha Prem rakho toh chal jaye, but ismein sab bandhan tod diye maine (As I have mentioned, I have broken all barriers for this film. I had Prem as my lucky charm but not this time).”
Uunchai is the 60th movie produced by Sooraj Barjatya’s Rajshri Productions label. On November 11, the movie opens in theatres. Sunil Gandhi wrote the script, while Sooraj Barjatya, Mahaveer Jain, and Natasha Malpani Oswal produced it.
