Melanie Martin Talks About the Death of Aaron Carter

Aaron Carter’s death is still a difficult one for Melanie Martin to process.

Just hours after learning of Aaron’s passing, the model, who was the mother of the late musician’s 11-month-old baby Prince, expressed her feelings about the tragedy.

“We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality,” Melanie said in a statement Nov. 5 via the AP. “Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.”

She also posted a two-second video on TikTok in which she’s seen crying hysterically behind the wheel of a car. While she didn’t caption the video, fans were quick to offer their condolences. One wrote, “He will always be with you through your son,” while another commented, “Stay strong Melanie. He’s with the angels now.”

A representative for Aaron told earlier that day that the 34-year-old had been discovered “unresponsive in his residence in Palmdale, California.” The LA Sheriff’s Department said in a press statement to E! News that deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call at around 11 a.m. from a home sitter who reported finding a man unconscious in the bathtub. The male was pronounced dead at the site not long after the deputies arrived, according to firefighters who arrived shortly behind them.

Officers showed up at Aaron’s house, a Lancaster Sheriff’s Office representative told, without providing any further information. It is unknown what caused Aaron’s death.

In January 2020, Aaron and Melanie first made their relationship known to the public. In April 2020, the couple made the announcement that they were having a child together, but they later said during a YouTube livestream that Melanie had “suffered a miscarriage owing to stress problems.”

In June 2020, about a year after becoming engaged, Aaron announced Melanie was expecting again by posting images of a sonogram to Instagram.

Nevertheless, the pair split up a week after welcoming Prince in November 2021 before getting back together a week later. Melanie and Aaron’s turbulent on-off romance, which was frequently recorded on Aaron’s social media up to the star’s passing, continued after they split up once more in February.

Aaron discussed their tumultuous relationship in an interview conducted only days before he passed away, describing the previous year as “hellacious.”

“We had some turmoil,” he shared on the Nov. 2 episode of No Jumper podcast. “She had pretty bad postpartum depression after the kid. It got rough. We did things, we said things that weren’t true, just like of retaliating after each other in the media. We both learned a valuable lesson, at least I did. I learned that that’s not what you do. You don’t do that.”

He added, “We can’t get rid of each other. We love the f–k out of each other.”
