Black Adam grossed $1.5 million in 73 markets this weekend. The film’s international total now stands at $220 million, with a worldwide total of $388.9 million.

It’s been another difficult week for DC fans, with the future of the franchise’s universe once again being called into question.

However, there is one anti-hero who is still trying to make a name for himself in the DC Universe, and his name is Black Adam.

The Dwayne Johnson-starrer has been in theatres since late October. Despite a disappointing box office run and the film already being available on VOD.

While much can be said about Black Adam’s performance, one thing is certain: he is persistent. Even with Johnson as a promotional vehicle, this superhero epic was a difficult sell.

Black Adam is Shazam’s archrival, but many general moviegoers didn’t know enough about him to take a chance on him in theatres.

While the trailers were action-packed, they blended in with the other MCU projects we’ve been seeing lately.

Most people thought it was just another superhero film. The general public was willing to wait a couple of weeks to get their comic book fix with Wakanda Forever.

That’s a shame because Black Adam was one of the year’s most entertaining films. Johnson was born to play Black Adam, and his charisma was at an all-time high.

Every frame shows how much Johnson adores the character. The action was also not lacking, with some fantastic street brawls featuring the classic Justice Society of America. Hawkman by Aldis Hodge and Doctor Fate by Pierce Brosnan gave this epic a jolt of energy that most films in this crowded genre lack.

This week, along with the reported cancellations of Wonder Woman 3 and Man of Steel 2, a sequel to Black Adam was called into question.

However, if this film is to have a sequel, it may have to rely on old-fashioned methods to make its case. This includes toy and VOD sales.

Adam is still playing in theatres, and the film is also available on VOD. While we wait to find out what happens to Johnson’s Man in Black and the rest of the DC Universe.
