Prince Harry was ‘terrified’ Meghan Markle might repeat history in Netflix Trailer

Prince Harry is talking about why he wants to protect Meghan Markle, his wife.

On Monday morning, a new trailer for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix show came out. In it, Harry says that the amount of media attention Meghan got scared him.

“I didn’t want history to repeat itself,” Harry said as cameras flashed on him, Meghan, and his mother, Princess Diana.

It’s a lot like what Prince Harry said in the docuseries The Me You Can’t See on AppleTV+: “The thing I most regret about my relationship with my wife is that I didn’t take a stronger stand against racism when I saw it. History was going over and over again. My mother was killed because she was dating someone who wasn’t white, and now look at what’s happened. If you want to talk about how history keeps repeating itself, they won’t stop until Meghan dies. Losing another woman in my life would be a huge shock, but the list is getting longer. And it all comes back to the same people, the same business model, and the same industry.”

Prince Harry, who is 38 years old, said in the trailer for the Netflix show, “You know, there are leaks, but there are also stories that are planted.” He later called it a “dirty game.”

He also said in a voiceover, as photographers followed Princess Diana and Kate Middleton, “The pain and suffering of women who marry into this institution, this feeding frenzy.”

Meghan, who is 41, said, “I realized, ‘They will never protect you.'”

At the end of the trailer, Prince Harry says, “No one knows everything. We know everything that’s true.”

Harry & Meghan, a six-part docuseries about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, starts on Netflix on Thursday, Dec. 8. The second volume will come out on Dec. 15.
