This week’s release of Violent Night will give David Harbour the chance to shine as a gritty and vicious take on Santa Claus.

The film is as entertaining as it can be, and fortunately for us, producer Kelly McCormick revealed in an exclusive interview with Collider’s own Alyse Wax that a sequel is on her wishlist.

The combination of extreme violence and the holiday spirit in Violent Night creates a film that is both hilarious and surprisingly heartwarming.

We can’t wait to see Harbour reprise the role in the future; it’s the ideal gift for the holiday season. Fortunately, McCormick is considering making Violent Night 2 already.

When questioned about her ongoing projects, which include Nobody 2, McCormick responds:

“We’re working on a lot of originals right now. We are also working on a ‘Nobody 2.’ We’re hoping to start working on a ‘Violent Night 2,’ if everything goes well the next few weeks. We have a tendency to just keep our heads down and focus on what’s in front of us, or near. So yeah, that’s kind of it. We’re in it. We still have two and a half months of work to do on this one.”

It sounds like McCormick will only commit to Violent Night 2 after seeing how the box office performs.

That’s fantastic news because the movie will undoubtedly become popular. The action-comedy Violent Night received positive reviews from both critics and viewers during early screening, and everyone was pleased with the mayhem Tommy Wirkola created (Dead Snow, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters).

The well-choreographed action sequences in the film have received universal acclaim, and as Wirkola previously said, Harbour was a natural for the role.

Thus, it is most likely that seeing a new Violent Night on Christmas will become a holiday custom. It is encouraging to know that McCormick is already planning for the future.

Leah Brady plays Trudy Lightstone, a young girl who asks Saint Nick to save her from bad guys, in the movie Violent Night. Beverly D’Angelo, Alexis Louder, Alex Hassell, Cam Gigandet, Edi Patterson, and John Leguizamo as the villain Mr. Scrooge are also featured in the cast. From a screenplay by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, Wirkola takes the helm.

On December 2, Violent Night will be seen in theatres.
