‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ stars wrote for ‘Shazamily Matters’

• Fury of the Gods stars Zachary Levi, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, and more.

Shazam! actors Zachary Levi and others The cast of Fury of the Gods contributed to the upcoming DC Comics anthology Shazam! Shazamily Matters is a Fury of the Gods special.

To coincide with the film’s premiere in March 2023, some of DC Comics‘ best-selling titles will also feature unique covers inspired by Fury of the Gods.

At the end of 2019’s Shazam!, Billy Batson (Asher Angel for the teen version, Levi for the superhero) shared the Wizard Shazam’s (Djimon Hounsou) powers with his foster siblings, giving birth to a family of superpowered heroes who wield the mighty of god and heroes of old.

The entire family is returning to Shazam! Fury of the Gods stars Jack Dylan Grazer/Adam Brody, Ian Chen/Ross Butler, Jovan Armand/D. J. Cotrona, and FaitheHerman/Meagan Good as the teenage and heroic versions of each Shazam family member.

Grace Caroline Currey played both the teenager and the superhero version of Mary Bromfield in the sequel; Michelle Borth played the superhero adult in the first film.

Because Shazam is about family, DC will release a one-shot anthology with stories written by several of the sequel’s cast members.

That is due to Shazam! Levi, Brody, Butler, Cotrona, Grace Currey, and Herman wrote the Fury of the Gods Special: Shazamily Matters. Each actor has written a story about the character they play in the DC Extended Universe, expanding on the mythology of the film.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods Special: Shazamily Matters will be available for purchase on February 28, 2023, less than a month before the release of Fury of the Gods.

Furthermore, DC Comics has invited some of the industry’s best artists to create unique covers for limited editions of multiple comic books that will be released throughout March.

These limited editions are sure to become valuable collector’s items, and any fan of the Shazam family should begin inquiring about pre-sales at their local comic book store.

On March 7, 2023, Lee Weeks will cover Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent #1, and Jerry Ordway and Alex Sinclair will cover The Flash #794. On March 21, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #13 will be released with a cover by Jesus Marino and Adriano Lucas, and Wonder Woman #797 will be released with a cover by Pop Mhan. Finally, on March 28, Action Comics #1053 will have a Lucio Parrillo cover, and Detective Comics #1070 will have a Travis Moore cover.

Shazam! is set years after the events of the first film. The film Fury of the Gods follows Billy and his foster family as they struggle to find their identities as superheroes and ordinary kids.

Things worsen when they are attacked by the Daughters of Atlas (Lucy Liu, Helen Mirren, and Rachel Zegler), descendants of one of the gods who bestow Billy’s abilities.

The Daughters of Atlas are furious that their father’s strength is being exploited by children and will serve as the sequel’s main antagonists.

David F. Sandberg, who directed the first film, returns to direct Shazam! Fury of the Gods from a script by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be released in theatres on March 17, 2023.
