‘The Last of Us’, an HBO original film, will be available to gamers in less than a month. Due to its mid-January premiere, the series has had an explosion in marketing.

We have seen a tonne of new teasers, posters, and photographs for this much awaited horror adaption in the months leading up to its release.

A new image from the show, which is inspired on the similarly named, critically acclaimed PlayStation franchise, has just been shown and features one of the game’s most engaging characters.

The picture, which was uploaded to the series’ different social media platforms, depicts Merle Dandridge’s Marlene and another member of her Firefly faction in a desperate situation.

If you played the first game, you understand exactly what is happening. Marlene employs Joel and Tess for a “cargo” assignment very early on in the The Last of Us video game. But it turns out that the “freight” is actually a little girl named Ellie, who they must transport safely to the Firefly base in Utah.

In typical Joel form, he opposes the notion but ultimately, grudgingly, consents since Marlene is hurt. Ellie is immune to the infection, which is why they are escorting her. She was bitten by an infected, as we’ve seen in earlier previews, but she never turned around. The Fireflies have been searching for a key, and she is it.

Because she is the only game actress to reprise their part for this HBO adaptation, Dandridge’s casting is one of the more intriguing ones. It will be intriguing to see what she and the authors add to Marlene this time around as she perfectly narrated Marlene in both Last of Us games.

Since Marlene is already such a deep character, they don’t need to do anything. Without giving away any surprises, she is satisfyingly torn between right and wrong, and when her true motives are made clear, Joel and Ellie’s relationship undergoes a jaw-dropping transformation.

The Last of Us is still among the best video games ever created and is perhaps one of the best tales ever written for any medium, almost ten years after its release.

This once-in-a-generation event was a deep character-driven emotional masterpiece, not just another generic zombie post-apocalyptic spectacle. With its Left Behind DLC and The Last of Us: Part II, that only continued.

This HBO series appears to be one of the most faithful video game adaptations in history based on what we’ve seen so far. There are other photos and sentences that have been taken directly from the games, much like this new image, which has delighted many fans.

It also helps that Joel, played by Pedro Pascal, and Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, perfectly capture the essence of their video game counterparts. Their backstory and dynamic with Marlene is likely the most crucial plot thread across both games, so be prepared with a box of Kleenex once Season 1 finishes.

The Last of Us will have nine episodes and make its HBO debut on January 15. Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, who played Joel and Ellie, respectively, in the games, are also scheduled to make an appearance in the series, but their specific roles have not yet been revealed.
