‘The Last of Us’, ‘The Idol’, & more teased in HBO Max 2023

HBO Max has released a preview video for their current 2023 schedule as we get ready to enter 2023. The movie includes new seasons of popular shows like Succession, Barry, and Our Flag Means Death as well as other brand-new productions like Velma and Love and Death. It also includes the much awaited The Last of Us.

Television programmes have experienced a lot of ups and downs in 2022, with many series getting cancelled, others getting renewed, and a tonne of new ones on the horizon.

The Pedro Pascal-led adaptation of The Last of Us will debut on HBO Max on January 15 and will be available to gamers in less than a month. Joel (Pascal) and 14-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey), who must travel over post-apocalyptic countryside as Joel tries to smuggle Ellie out of a quarantine zone in the series, which is set 20 years after the destruction of contemporary civilization. The video game’s storytelling has received a lot of praise since its initial release in 2013 in particular.

The Idol, which was created by Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd), Sam Levinson, and Reza Fahim, is another eagerly awaited HBO Original.

The series, which is hosted by Lily-Rose Depp, centres on the complicated bond between a budding pop star and a self-help guru and contemporary cult leader.

There is no set date for release as of yet. A new viewpoint on the Watergate incident is presented in the upcoming limited series White House Plumbers, which will premiere in March. The final new HBO original title is Rain Dogs.

A mother who relishes in her lower class lifestyle yet aspires to provide a better life for her daughter is Costello Jones (Daisy May Cooper), the main character in this dark comedy.

New shows from Max Originals are also making a strong debut. Fans of Scooby-Doo can watch the brand-new prequel series Velma starting on January 12. The adult animated comedy Velma centres on Velma Dinkley, the group’s adored brainiac, and is voiced by Mindy Kaling in the main role.

While Velma tries to solve grislier riddles than we’re used to seeing in the more family-friendly Scooby-Doo content, the series will primarily be focused on fleshing out Velma’s backstory. Additionally, it will reacquaint audiences with well-known characters like Shaggy (Sam Richardson), Daphne (Constance Wu), and Fred (Glenn Howerton).

Love and Death, starring Elizabeth Olsen, is one of two other new shows. Based on Candy Montgomery’s actual crime narrative, the limited series (Olsen). In the Dallas suburbs, Candy led an idyllic life, spending most of her time with her friend Betty Gore.

Up until Candy killed Betty with an axe one day. Full Circle, the third new series of 2023, has a similar gloomy plot and focuses on the investigation of a botched kidnapping that reveals many hidden aspects of contemporary New York City. Zazie Beetz, Claire Danes, Timothy Olyphant, Dennis Quaid, Jim Gaffigan, Jharrel Jerome, and other actors are featured in the limited series.

A number of its returning shows are also highlighted in the promo. The dramas Succession, Perry Mason, The Gilded Age, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, and True Detective: Night Country will all be returning to HBO Originals.

Barry, The Righteous Gemstones, Somebody Somewhere, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and A Black Lady Sketch Show are among the original comedies that are returning. Hard Knocks, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, How to with John Wilson, and Real Time with Bill Maher are among the other returning programmes.

New episodes of Doom Patrol and Titans, as well as new seasons of Our Flag Means Death, Harley Quinn, Rap Sh!t, Hacks, Julia, And Just Like That…, Warrior, The Other Two, and Tokyo Vice, are just a few of the returning Max Originals.
