Warner Bros. is not moving forward with the Gal Gadot-led “Wonder Woman 3.” The Lasso of Truth is running low on this one. According to the sources, Wonder Woman 3 is no longer in the works at DC Studios.

Patty Jenkins, who directed the first two instalments, would have returned to direct the third instalment alongside star Gal Gadot.

At the moment, the cancellation is being blamed on the sequel failing to adhere to the new blueprint established by DC Studios co-chairs James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Both Gunn and Safran recently returned to Los Angeles from Aspen, where they participated in an extensive DC Studios planning session.

The duo is said to have broken the news to Jenkins, who is said to have recently turned in a draught co-written by Geoff Johns.

While the next incarnation of the character by Jenkins will not see the light of day in its current form, Gadot’s portrayal of the character may not be over.

The actress recently thanked fans on Twitter, saying, “she can’t wait for the next chapter.” It’s unclear whether Gadot was aware of the film’s fate when she tweeted.

The first Wonder Woman film was released in 2017 to critical and commercial acclaim. Fans were sceptical prior to its release due to the lukewarm reception to Zack Snyder’s Batman v.

Superman: Dawn of Justice and Gadot’s limited starring role experience. The film became a cultural touchstone for recent comic book filmmaking, outperforming the Marvel Cinematic Universe in terms of a female-led solo project.

However, the critical and commercial response to the sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, was mixed, despite the fact that it was released early in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gunn and Safran’s vision for the upcoming DC projects is unknown, but the work they’ve been doing is abundantly clear. Gunn recently shared a photo on social media teasing the infamous Kingdom Come comic book storyline, sparking speculation about its future role at DC Studios.

Furthermore, newly released promotional materials from CCXP for next year’s Blue Beetle reignited fan excitement for the upcoming film.

Gunn and Safran face a difficult task in establishing their cinematic blueprint among the numerous projects already in development.

This news is yet another setback for Jenkins, who recently had her Star Wars project shelved at Lucasfilm. She was to direct Rogue Squadron, a spin-off film about starfighter pilots in a galaxy far, far away.

Jenkins is an undeniable talent who has proven herself beyond the confines of genre fiction. She was most notable for guiding Charlize Theron to an Academy Award for her transformative performance in Monster.
