Anna Delvey Sorokin is planning a redemption reality TV series for 2023.

Duncan Levin, a lawyer for the woman who has been mainly denigrated by society as a “con artist,” tells in an exclusive interview: “It’s going to be dealing with her art and design and it will deal with her as a person and as a creative artist.”

The unscripted project is not yet affiliated with a production company or network because it is still in the early stages of development.

We are just searching for areas where she’ll get a fair shake and where people are prepared to give her this opportunity to speak for herself and share her narrative, says Levin. “We’re down the road on several really interesting opportunities,” he adds.

Criminal convictions have very disastrous collateral effects. She faces an uphill struggle because everyone she speaks to initially views her as a con artist, which he acknowledges. At every meeting, she says, “Give me a chance to do this,” to whomever she is speaking.

As Sorokin, 31, navigates her next steps while under house arrest at her East Village apartment, Levin, a formidable criminal defence attorney who helped free Sorokin, 31, from ICE custody in October 2022 after her nearly five-year prison stint for fraud, is providing his client with additional support.

As Sorokin, who was originally assumed to be a phony German heiress, seeks to reinvent her public character, Levin hints that TV is her first aim. The Anna Delvey clothing line and fragrance have been addressed in passing.

Everyone has this idea of her as this persona, as an actress, and certainly there’s some truth in these types of series, observes Levin, referring to the Netflix drama “Inventing Anna,” which paid Sorokin $320,000 in exchange for the rights to her life.

The Shondaland program helped Sorokin pay some of her considerable legal expenses and restitution, but it didn’t do much to improve her reputation. Duncan thinks that Julia Garner’s portrayal of the rather chilly, Machiavellian con artist is a long cry from the “trustworthy” person he is so taken with.

She is far more than the purported worst thing she has ever done. She is a wonderful client. People mistake her for the Garner character even though she’s genuinely friendly and hilarious, according to Levin, who speaks with Sorokin frequently.

She is an extremely distinct individual. But she’s hilarious, and we frequently laugh a lot, said the founder of the Manhattan-based company Levin & Associates, PLLC. “She sees the brighter side of things despite having numerous legal issues,”

Levin claims that Sorokin will make every effort to minimize her background on any potential reality program, but their battle to keep her in the country and reverse her sentence for defrauding friends and companies of more than $200,000 would probably be documented.

He asserts that Sorokin is praised by her “adoring followers” for her “entrepreneurial zeal” — not her criminal associations—and claims that this makes her a rare case since she enjoys the attention her narrative has received from the public.

“I believe she is really eager to share that with all the individuals who adore her so dearly… Duncan adds, citing Sorokin’s successful six-figure painting sales, “She genuinely wants everyone to know who she is, what she stands for, and she wants to be assessed by her artistic talents.”

Even with the backdrop of the immigration situation, her criminal appeal, and all of the other legal challenges that she is dealing with, I believe that’s what we’re going to see a lot more of.

As Sorokin’s former attorney Audrey Thomas has been keeping her court file hostage for almost a year, her criminal appeal as well as her request to be spared from being deported to Germany or her native Russia have been put on hold. Levin is at a standstill without Thomas’ assistance—who has now been barred for unrelated reasons—but he is optimistic.

In general, what we’re going to do in 2023 is appeal her criminal conviction, which we’re going to win, and we’re going to clear her name. The predicate is that criminal conviction, so we are going to convince immigration court to not deport her as a result, he claims.

Therefore, once she has that clearance, they won’t deport her; instead, they’ll allow her to remain in the country.

Levin thinks their final act will involve witnessing Sorokin’s star soar to new heights, preferably with cameras rolling, once she has secured a spotless record and stability in her cherished Big Apple.

He exclaimed, grinning, “She is going to become a fixture of the art circuit, you’re going to see her on your screens.”
“And I believe people will say that Anna Delvey is someone who has run into some legal issues, but at the end of the day, she picked up the pieces, she dusted it off, and she got out there and she pushed and she hustled… and she’s back on top,” the author continued.

Will Sorokin ever be able to shed the reputation as a scam man, though?

We are a forgiving culture, so in the end, I think she will, says Levin, who was important in clearing jailed Seagram’s heiress and Nxivm alum Clare Bronfman of a false “sex offender” label in November.

He continues, “I’ve been so fortunate throughout the years to perform this kind of work and realize that you truly can exonerate people. Exonerating Anna is basically what I’m assisting Anna with.
