According to the media, Tony Tost’s Americana, formerly known as National Anthem, will have its international premiere at the upcoming SXSW. A March 17 premiere of the film is anticipated at the Paramount Theatre’s Narrative Spotlight area. A motley crew of heroes and villains are pursued by a mythical Native American item, the prized Lakota Native American Ghost Shirt, which is connected to the complex history of the American West, in this darkly humorous crime thriller.

The item gained notoriety for its part in the Battle of Wounded Knee because the Lakota tribe believed that wearing the Ghost shirts would protect them from the bullets fired by white settlers. However, it didn’t function as planned, and the conflict resulted in the killing of hundreds of Lakota warriors.

The film focuses on the reasons behind these people’s quests for fabled clothing. whether it’s out of greed, self-interest, or a desire to return it to its rightful place. Tost earlier expressed his enthusiasm for the film by saying, “I’m especially thrilled to be bringing to the screen a vision of modern rural America that pays tribute to the myths of the West while also radically reinventing them.”
