The critically acclaimed Indian web series “The Family Man” premiered on Amazon Prime Video in September 2019. Created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., the show earned widespread appreciation. However, the makers initially did not approach Manoj Bajpayee for the lead role. They first offered it to Akshaye Khanna, who turned it down, before eventually casting Bajpayee.

Reports suggest that the creators initially envisioned Akshaye Khanna in the lead role. In November 2017, sources revealed that Khanna was in talks to headline the series, which was described as a socio-political thriller.

Budgetary constraints and Khanna’s substantial fee prevented the collaboration from materializing. As a result, in December 2017, the makers approached Manoj Bajpayee, who ultimately took on the role of Srikant Tiwari.

Manoj Bajpayee’s portrayal of Srikant Tiwari has been lauded for its depth and authenticity. Interestingly, Bajpayee himself was initially hesitant about joining the project. He revealed that he had reservations about web series, often associating them with excessive content.

Bajpayee knew that the creators had considered Akshaye Khanna for the role and initially felt reluctant to take over another actor’s part. However, the casting director’s assurances and a compelling narration from the creators ultimately convinced him to accept the role.

The show masterfully blends action, drama, and subtle humor as it follows Srikant Tiwari, a middle-class man who secretly works as an intelligence officer for the Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC) of the National Investigation Agency.

The narrative explores Srikant’s struggles as he juggles the demands of his covert job with his family responsibilities.

The series has received widespread acclaim for its gripping storytelling, well-developed characters, and reflection of contemporary geopolitical issues. Following the success of “The Family Man’s” first two seasons, anticipation for the third installment remains high. With filming for Season 3 now complete, fans can expect an official announcement soon.
