To which Karan retorts, “You are also a star kid.” She, upset, shrugs off the response. Tanuja, an actor, and Shomu Mukherjee, a filmmaker, are her parents. Both her grandmother Shobana Samarth and aunt Nutan were actors.

When Karan finally hands Kajol the bowl of soup, the actor offers some cheeky but ostensibly helpful advice. She says, “Now make your movies like this too, without any star kids!” The filmmaker awkwardly laughs along with her.
