Raha’s name was now spoken aloud for the first time by Ranbir in a recent interview conducted in Jeddah on the sidelines of the Red Sea Film Festival. “Yes, thank you. Her name is Raha,” he said. Ranbir pronounced it as Raa-Haa (राहा).

The actor’s admirers applauded his new role as a father. “Ranbir seemed content. He is fortunate to have Raha, said a commenter on the Bolly Blinds and Gossip forum. “From considering him to be my personal Saawariyan. Seeing him talk about his infant daughter Raha made me all gooey,” added another. “I just realised that this is his daughter’s father’s first public appearance. Another remark said, “Of course overjoyed papa has to announce the name of his lil’ angel, he’s truly in the happiest moment of his life.”

Revealing her daughter’s name, Alia had written, “The name Raha (chosen by her wise and wonderful Dadi) has so many beautiful meanings… Raha, in its purest form means divine path in Swahili she is Joy, In Sanskrit, Raha is a clan, In Bangla – rest, comfort, relief, in Arabic peace, it also means happiness, freedom & bliss. And true to her name, from the first moment we held her – we felt it ALL! Thank you Raha, for bringing our family to life, it feels as though our lives have only just begun.”

Alia and Ranbir last appeared together in Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy epic Brahmastra. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone made cameo appearances in the successful film, which did well at the box office. His upcoming movies include Animal by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and a Luv Ranjan production.
