Twinkle Khanna told Akshay Kumar, ‘I would never marry someone like you’

Twinkle Khanna published a statement in which she described how Akshay Kumar captured her heart despite her declaration that she would never marry someone similar to him. After taking down the post, she shared a new one without mentioning the occurrence.

On their 22nd wedding anniversary, Twinkle Khanna, a former actress and author, wrote a letter of gratitude to her husband Akshay Kumar. She recalls telling Akshay once that she would never marry him and shared a glimpse of a card he had chosen for her. On their fifth date, it was Akshay’s response to her that really won her over.

Twinkle posted a brief short clip showing Twinkle and Akshay walking in the dark while holding hands. It appears to be an outside space because blue fairy lights were used to decorate it. The video also showed a glimpse of Akshay’s handwritten greeting card.

“Did we end up doing well?” Akshay Kumar wrote in the card. He further referred to Twinkle as “queen,” saying that his patience had been the key to their relationship’s success. A cartoon on the card was called Tina, Twinkle’s pet name.

Twinkle captioned the video when she shared it “Only he could have found the perfect card! On our fifth date, I told him, ‘I would never marry someone like you.’ He instantly replied,’ I don’t remember asking you.’ I was so impressed with that line.”

“It’s been over two decades and we have built a life that encompasses two children, our extended families, work, friends, dogs, independence and stability.’ As for what he has written in the card: I don’t know if I have the wisdom of a queen but the man does have the patience of a saint and most importantly, a heart of gold. You don’t have to be alike to make it work, you just have to like each other enough. #bestfriends #behindthescenes,” she added.

Twinkle erased the video a short while after she shared it. Later, she posted images of the identical card that Akshay had given her along with a picture of the two of them. She deleted the sentences about their fifth date from the caption.

Akshay shared a joyful candid photo of himself and Twinkle at a festival over an hour ago. The traditional-dressed couple can be seen laughing together in the picture. Akshay uploaded it to Instagram and commented, “Two imperfect people who have perfectly been stuck together since twenty-two years! Happy anniversary Tina,” with an emoji of a kiss.

Before Twinkle permanently stopped performing, they collaborated on two movies together in 1999: Zulmi and International Khiladi. She began her career as a writer before going on to produce movies. In addition, she started her own website, Tweak India, and is currently enrolled in a fiction writing course in London. She and Akshay are blessed with a daughter named Nitara and a son named Aarav Bhatia.
