Abbie Herbert still occasionally worries the worst. “We were just at the Penguins hockey game,” the Pennsylvania-based TikToker detailed in an exclusive chat with E! News, “and I jumped up when they scored and I felt a sharp pain in my side.” Nearly 20 weeks into her third pregnancy, continued the 26-year-old, “I immediately was like, ‘Oh no. Did I just do something wrong?’ And I went to the bathroom and I checked to make sure there was no blood in my underwear and to make sure that everything was okay.”
This is what to anticipate when becoming pregnant again after a miscarriage.
Abbie, who is expecting a child with her husband Josh Herbert in March, said, “There’s always that little thing in the back of my head like, ‘Oh no, did anything just happen?'” Just that worry, which is still somewhat on my mind.
Abbie claimed that her first pregnancy, which resulted in Poppy, who is now 17 months old, was healthy despite some early bleeding that she later described as “terrifying.” However, the model couldn’t shake the sinking feeling she experienced after learning of the second positive pregnancy test in early May.
“As a woman, you know your body, you just know,” she explained, “And I kept telling Josh, ‘If this is a real pregnancy,’ ‘If this is real,’ ‘If this is happening.'” Her fears were confirmed when she woke up on Mother’s Day—just six days before Poppy’s first birthday—to bleeding. Even before they made it to the emergency room, recalled Abbie, “I just knew.”
She sat with the sadness for a while, reflecting on how one in every four pregnancies ended in loss, much like her mother-in-law, grandmother, sisters-in-law, and millions of other people. “Then I thought, “You know what?” I did do a lot of videos about having another child and I was like, “This is the real side of trying for a kid and fertility,” so I’m going to write about it and share my story, she said.”
When she learned she was expecting her third child in June, her genuine, unaltered version appeared to reflect her cautious optimism “This time, it was only different. I kept announcing that I was pregnant “Abbie confessed), but continues to look for blood in each restroom
It also appears to be connecting with a large group of people who have gone through the same suffering, as seen in Abbie’s conversations with other influencers who choose to talk about their own experiences and with the viewers who flooded her videos’ comment sections with their own accounts.
She said, “It was lovely to connect over that.” It simply gives me the impression that I’m not alone in this.
