Stephen “tWitch” Boss was determined to be a suicide by gunshot to the head. The case has been declared closed because, in the words of the Los Angeles County medical examiner, there were “no indicators of foul play.”

The 40-year-old dancer was discovered on Tuesday in the bathtub of his hotel room at the Oak Tree Inn in Encino, California, only a 14-minute walk from his house, as was previously reported.

Around 11:20 a.m. local time, West Valley Division officers responded to a report from the hotel.

However, staff at the motel told TMZ on Wednesday that when Boss came the day before with only a little overnight bag, he did not appear to be “visibly” disturbed.

Allison Holker, the wife of Boss, observed that morning that her husband had left the house without his automobile, which was unusual for him, and she reported him to the police.

Following the devastating news of his passing, Boss’ close friends and family members, including his wife, praised him for his inspiring spirit despite his own internal challenges.

The first line of Holker’s statement to People was, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to reveal my husband Stephen has left us.” “Stephen brought light into every space he entered. Above all else, he treasured his family, friends, and community. He believed that the best way to lead was to lead with love and light.

“He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

The 34-year-old continued by praising the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” DJ for his “legacy” and “good effect,” which she and their three children will always cherish.

“Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you,” she concluded.

Days before he passed away, Boss, who had just marked his ninth wedding anniversary with Holker, had previously talked openly about his struggles with mental illness and overcoming hardship.

On a podcast in 2017, Boss stated, “For me, it just helps to know that it keeps going — it does, no matter what — even if something seems very terrible like there’s some type of force that’s going to keep going and it’s there for you to naturally tap.”

He added, “Sometimes, I’m faced to make a choice that is the best possible choice I can make at that given moment. Now, will it be a perfect choice? No. Will it cause me to fall? Maybe, and if so, you’ve got to get back up really, really quick and pick up the lesson of whatever that is and then keep it moving because that’s kind of what life does.”

Boss and Holker had three children together: Weslie, age 14, Maddox, age 6, and Zaia, age 3. Before his terrible death, they had plans to grow their family.
