Michael B. Jordan, the film’s first-time director, and the star has made it obvious that he wants to move the franchise in a new direction with Creed III. Rocky’s spin-off was initially met with skepticism from fans, but when Jordan appeared and won them over as Adonis “Donnie” Creed, the son of Rocky’s best buddy Apollo Creed, the franchise was launched (Carl Weathers). With the release of the third installment, there is surely much anticipation and enthusiasm.

USA Today has released a new image from the upcoming film, in which Donnie is shown fighting once more in the boxing ring, to further entice viewers. Jonathan Majors plays the new enemy of the film, however, in the new picture, Donnie isn’t up against him. The image suggests that the new film will contain more high-octane battles and that Jordan appears ominous in the role of Donnie.

We’ll witness a Donnie in Creed III who is at the pinnacle of his job and who is happy in his family life. Things change when Damian (Majors), a former boxing prodigy and boyhood friend, reappears after serving time in prison. Damian is a boxer who is motivated to earn his chance in the ring and has nothing to lose. Adonis will have to risk his future in order to settle the score in the ring.

Jordan hopes to continue the emotional journey that has already been established for Donnie in Creed III. The actor/director stated that the upcoming film is not “simply your ordinary boxing movie” in a previously released featurette.” Jordan clarified, “We really wanted to capitalize on the character’s emotional development, throw it into the mix, and have it pay off physically. In the upcoming film, Donnie will be put to the ultimate test as he squares up against a foe who has a personal score to settle and will stop at nothing to destroy him and everything he has worked for instead of winning the fight.

Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin’s screenplay serves as the basis for Jordan’s direction. The film also stars Wood Harris as Tony “Little Duke” Evers, Florian Munteanu as Viktor Drago, Phylicia Rashad as Mary Anne, and Jordan and Majors as Donnie Taylor’s wife, Bianca Taylor. Additionally, Tony Bellew will return to the character of Ricky Conlan from the first movie.
