Oprah Winfrey is continuing her “new passion” of hiking in Hawaii

• The talk show presenter provided an update on her hiking excursions.
• Oprah is joined in the video by her best friend Gayle King as she talks about her hike.
• Oprah said that she was making the hike in honor of Barbara Waters.

Oprah Winfrey will enjoy the great outdoors. In a video uploaded on Instagram on January 4, the talk show presenter provided an update on her hiking excursions, which she referred to as her “new hobby.”

Oprah is joined in the video by her best friend Gayle King, who follows her as she talks about her hike on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.

“On another hike today, and we actually moved to another island,” Oprah says, with Gayle chiming in, “And she has new knees and she’s killing it.”

Oprah, 68, revealed in October that she will be having both knees operated on in 2021 at a class she was teaching called “The Life You Want.” She spoke about being unable to lift her legs throughout her recovery and vowed to benefit from movement, exercise, and being able to be fully in her body if she “was ever able to get up, walk around, and move again.”

Oprah is currently keeping her word. In reality, Oprah revealed on Instagram on January 1 that she and Gayle concluded 2022 with “a morning ‘gratitude’ trek that lasted half a day.” Oprah said that she was making the hike in honor of Barbara Waters, a renowned journalist who passed away on December 30 at the age of 93.

In a subsequent video, Oprah pondered on her current state of health while wearing a pink tracksuit and a tan hat.

“During this ‘gratitude’ hike I am also grateful for my new knees that carried me through this journey,” she wrote on Instagram. “A year ago I couldn’t walk and I finished 2022 walking 10.2 miles up a mountain. God is good.”
