Ed Sheeran, Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid give the “Dirty Dancing” lift a fun twist

• The Friends actor and Snow Patrol musician released a home video on Sunday.

Nobody backs Johnny McDaid and Courteney Cox into a corner. The Friends actor, 58, and Snow Patrol musician, 46, released a home video on Sunday that featured a humorous spin on the movie’s famous lift.

The actress and musician may be seen cuddled up on a couch watching the iconic last scene of the 1987 romance drama starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

Cox spoke to her partner, “I really like this part, and then I’ll turn to you and ask, “Can we do it? The elevator”

The image then changed to the couple practicing the well-known technique in a backyard after the singer said, “Sure,” and nodded.

As “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes played, Cox was then lifted up by two people — the couple’s mutual friend Ed Sheeran and photographer and filmmaker Jason Koenig — before she and McDaid sprinted for one another.

The humorous video shows him trying to jump into Cox’s arms as she moved out of the way, but instead of Cox taking the leap of faith into McDaid’s arms, it all goes horribly wrong.

The video then changed to an emergency car weaving through traffic while flashing its red lights and wailing its siren.

“It’s ok we’re professionals,” Cox jokingly captioned the post.

Actress and former Love Island host Arielle Vandenberg responded, “LOLOLOL NOOOO.” The Game of Thrones actor Hannah Waddingham and Ted Lasso both posted a number of clapping and laughing-while-crying emojis to the comments section.

Since 2013, Cox and McDaid have been dating. A common acquaintance of the two, the singer Sheeran, 31, introduced the couple. After dating for nine months, Cox and McDaid became engaged. However, they later called off their wedding in late 2015. The two then made up in 2016.

Last year, Cox shared a number of adorable photos of the couple from their relationship on her Instagram as a beautiful birthday tribute to her partner, who will turn 46 in July 2022.

She captioned the picture, “Happy birthday to my multi-talented Johnny.” “He could be (sort of) ageing, but seeing him play never changes. J, I adore you.”

And in January 2022, the actress told news that her British beau was the “most patient” person she had ever encountered.

“He has fantastic advise to offer. I adore his intentions and heart. His values. He is obviously very musical and gifted, but he is also a poet and a writer “explained Cox. “He’s just so intelligent, and I think that’s quite alluring. And then he looks stunning.”
