Ed Sheeran wowed fans by announcing his return and explaining his absence was due to some “turbulent situations” in his personal life. The singer of Perfect posted a video on Instagram explaining why he has not been active on social media and why he has not been “engaging” with his followers there.

He apologized in the reel, saying, “I realize I have not been as active on social media or with my fan base over the previous couple of years and the things that have been put on this account could have gotten a bit dull. Since my personal life has been experiencing some turmoil, I am making this video because, to be really honest, I did not feel like going online and pretending to be someone I am not when I was not feeling that way.

The singer continued, “I know that seems crazy, but that is why I am producing this video to say things are looking up and I am back online. You should be aware that strange material may soon start appearing here.

Sheeran said he took roughly 50 takes to record the video before saying, “I am not producing another one!” In November of last year, immediately following the completion of a music video, the Shape of You hitmaker declared a social media break. Sheeran disclosed with the aid of some behind-the-scenes pictures from his music video, “I will leave you now till 2023. I will see you in 2019. Love to you, Ed x.”
