Bloody Disgusting recently reported that The Lake, a forthcoming creature feature from Thailand, has set a limited theatrical U.S. debut on March 10 with an anticipated digital release on March 14. This means that audiences will soon have a new movie monster to fear. The film’s new trailer, which teases unrelenting monster mayhem, was also unveiled by Epic Pictures Group in addition to the new release date.

The movie’s plot is being kept a secret, but the trailer teases the discovery of an egg and the subsequent appearance of a dangerous creature on a vengeful mission. The movie’s monster, which can be seen bursting out of a lake on a dark, rainy night and causing havoc to the local town’s population, is also shown in the clip in all its earth-shattering splendor. The Lake is already taking shape to be another iconic entry in the expanding monster movie genre, echoing previous classic films like Godzilla and supporting its distinctive creature design with real-world effects.

“This film will rekindle the feelings of nostalgia we once had for the early puppet and animatronic monster flicks. Nonetheless, viewing this monster movie with 40% CGI is the most thrilling aspect of the film. According to Lee Thongkham, who co-directs the movie with Aqing Xu and is quoted on Bloody Disgusting, “You will feel the real and amazing scope and grandeur from Thai cinema. The movie’s screenplay is written by Thongkham, while the story’s main antagonist is created by artist Jordu Schell, who has previously worked on notable films like Cloverfield, The Thing, and Avatar.

The Lake is an intense film that employs both real-world and visual effects in an incredibly stunning manner. It was inspired by the consequences of actual environmental calamities. The Lake is Thailand’s daring response to the creature feature, continuing in the huge footsteps of Godzilla from Japan and The Host from Korea, said Patrick Ewald, CEO of Epic Films Group.

Following the successful release of Legendary’s Monsterverse, the genre as a whole has seen a recent rebirth. Troll, a Norwegian movie that recently released on Netflix, received favorable reviews. Monster movie enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to in addition to the release of The Lake, as TOHO Studios will present a brand-new Godzilla movie, which will be released on November 3 in honor of the franchise’s 69th anniversary. Additionally, Gamera, the iconic movie monster, will make a comeback in the upcoming Gamera-Rebirth! Anime series. With so much planned, it seems the kaiju subgenre is more popular than ever.
