Marcel and Branden Fraser are having a great time at the Shell. The Oscar Academy has nominated Fraser for Best Actor for his moving portrayal in The Whale, whereas Marcel the Shell with Shoes On has been nominated for Best Animated Feature. Both Marcel and Fraser have received a lot of praise from their peers and fans for their unique characters and ability to touch people’s hearts. A24 recently revealed snippets from Marcel and fellow first-time nominee Fraser’s pre-Oscars Interview.

Jenny Slate’s character Marcel says to Fraser in the nicest exchange ever, “Woah! You actually brought a tear to my eye, and I simply shed that tear. My heart, my heart, really felt as though it were hurting but I could also really feel it. When you watch a movie, you hope that the performer will remind you that your heart is in the right place.

Fraser said, “When I watched your movie, it made me think about how essential it is to know who your friends are and how vital it is to have a home,” as he continued to listen to the shell. That is something I believe we can all agree on. “The difference is you have to know so many lines, and primarily I was like randomly chatting,” Marcel says of their performances.

The movies “The Whale’s Trip to the Oscars” and “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”

Fraser plays a morbidly obese, reclusive English professor in Darren Aronofsky’s film The Whale who is in serious danger of developing congestive heart failure. He tries to make peace with his estranged teenage daughter Ellie, played by Sadie Sink, in his final days in an effort to feel like he at least accomplished one good deed. Fans and critics alike were inconsolable over Fraser’s heartbreaking performance. His comeback has been celebrated in the movie, which has sparked a “Brenaissance” among admirers. Fraser enjoyed successful runs at many film festivals, frequently responding to standing ovations with teary eyes. He has received numerous awards for the part, including the Satellite Award, the Screen Actors Guild Award, and the Hollywood Critics Association Award for Best Actor.

On the other side, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, which is based on a series of shorts of the same name written by Dean Fleischer Camp and Slate, has also been a fan favorite this season. The stop-motion/live-action comedy-drama is Camp’s first project as a filmmaker. In this endearing tale, Marcel must contend with millions of devoted followers while trying to find his long-lost family. A nomination for the Oscars would just add to the film’s impressive list of achievements this season.
