Eva Longoria’s recent “derogatory remarks” towards soap opera stars are being called out by Eric Braeden.

After Longoria’s recent appearance on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, the Emmy Award-winning actor, who has played Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless since 1980, defended daytime actors in a series of tweets.

EVA LONGORIA: you just disparaged daytime actors!, wrote Braeden, 81, on Sunday. “Simply put, you lacked the skills necessary to endure the demands of this medium! You had a lot of luck getting on that “housewife” show! You performed one act in 8–12 days with subpar yet amusing lines.”

He went on, “You would lose against our actresses hands down! Then they did as well! Several people, from Robert [De Niro] to whoever they are today, got their start in the genre you disparage! It exhibits a total lack of class!”

In an interview with journalist Chris Wallace that aired on Sunday, Longoria, 48, talked openly about her time portraying Isabella Braa on the CBS serial opera, which is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary.

“When I landed Young and the Restless, the salary wasn’t sufficient for me to support myself as an actress. So I kept looking for jobs and watching Young and the Restless “She remembered. And because my clients didn’t want, say, a foolish actress handling their accounts, I would keep my Young and the Restless involvement a secret from them.

“You look like a girl I’ve seen on a soap opera, said one of my clients once. I respond, “No, I’m not sure who that is.” “She remembered. “I resembled the antithesis of a publicist’s ideal client. Don’t tell anyone I’m on that program, I was thinking since I’m still making more money at my day job.”

The Flamin’ Hot director was backed by some fans in the comment section, but Braeden retorted that “the whole mood of that episode was one of embarrassment regarding her experience in Y&R.”

Said he, “I become enraged when people who have not succeeded in the [daytime TV] medium or who have no understanding of what it is about to criticize it. Because I’m one of the few people in it who has done everything, including theatre, movies, and a ton of guest star roles at night! I am knowledgeable in this subject.”
