Everything Everywhere All At Once awarding winning streak continues at Spirit Awards

• Everything Everywhere All At Once won a record-breaking seven awards at Spirit Awards.

• The movie also won big at PGA and Screen Guild Awards.

Everything Everywhere All At Once may not be a dominant force or an unstoppable freight train of award-winning gold in every possible world, but that universe does not appear to be the one in which the movie keeps picking up accolades.

The film, which had previously taken home top honors at award ceremonies like the DGA Awards and the PGA Awards—the BAFTAs were a rare defeat for the production—kept up its winning ways by taking home a record-breaking seven awards at last night’s Spirit Awards, winning in every category in which it was nominated. The only award it didn’t take home was for supporting actress, where co-star Ke Huy Quan beat Jamie Lee Curtis.

And it’s debatable whether this setback came about as a result of the Spirit Awards’ decision to switch to gender-neutral acting categories for the first time, which resulted in Curtis and Quan being nominated for the same prize. Six Spirit Awards had previously been won by Moonlight, Sideways, and Pulp Fiction, three movies.

The honors for Outstanding Lead Performance and Best Breakthrough Performance went to their co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Stephanie Hsu, while the directing prize went to Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.
