In the future, Xochitl Gomez, who shot to fame after portraying America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness last year, hopes to see her character grow, perhaps in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. When Chavez next makes an appearance on the big screen, Gomez was questioned by Deadline during a recent red carpet event for Creed III. The actress was hesitant about making a comeback in the fifth Avengers film, saying she wasn’t sure if she would be. She went on to explain how America must grow in courage and self-assurance if she is to progress both as a superhero and a person:

I want to see a really strong America. She was afraid, unsure of what she was doing, and unsure of how to wield her powers in “Doctor Strange.” Perhaps she has some experience under her belt. I’d want to see America become a little bit more secure.

America is revealed to be the sole character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who has the ability to switch between several universes and time periods in Multiverse of Madness. Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), who had only started to investigate her identity as the Scarlet Witch, makes her the main target of her plans. In order to travel to a realm where she may raise her children without interference, Wanda intends to steal America’s powers. As Wanda frees the residents of Westview from her influence in the aftermath of WandaVision, her children vanish, leaving the witch sad, lonely, and determined to reunite with her family.

America must ask Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for assistance when she is unable to outrun Maximoff across the Multiverse. At first, the two don’t trust one another, but as a threat becomes real, they are compelled to work together to stop the Scarlet Witch from killing Chavez. Working on Sam Raimi’s blockbuster taught Gomez a lot, and she even got some advice from Patrick Stewart. The well-known actor urged Gomez to treat everyone with respect and a desire to collaborate, and to always be polite to those she encountered during the course of her career.

Future of Chavez in America

Even though it’s still uncertain whether America Chavez will return to face Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) in 2025, it should give fans some peace of mind to know that Gomez is incredibly eager to return to the part, no matter what next movie she appears in. It is difficult to forecast where the character would appear next because Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduces new storylines that initially seem disjointed.
