KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia reported 27,004 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Thursday, bringing the national total to 3,927,437, according to the health ministry.

There are 719 new imported cases, with 26,285 being local transmissions, data released on the ministry’s website showed.

A further 86 deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 34,185.

The ministry also reported 29,450 new recoveries, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 3,596,453.

There are 296,799 active cases, 373 are being held in intensive care and 225 of those are in need of assisted breathing.

The country administered a total of 46,039 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines on Thursday, and 83.8 percent of the population have received at least one dose, 78.9 percent have been fully vaccinated and 47.2 percent have received boosters.
