Turkey arrested sister of Leader of Islamic Republic of Iraq Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi from the Northern Syrian town of Azaz on Monday.
According to the international news agency, 65-year-old Rasmiya Awad, sister of Abu Bakr, was arrested in a raid along with her brother and her daughter-in-law when they were being interrogated.
According to the officials, she was arrested in a raid on a trailer container. She was living with her family near Azaz in Aleppo province. Her brother and daughter-in-law was also arrested during the interrogation,
An official from Turkey said, “This kind of thing is an intelligence gold mine. What she knows can significantly expand our understanding of the group and help us catch more bad guys.”
The official also said, “We hope to get the source of intelligence from Abu Bakr’s sister on ISIS’s internal operations.”
It should be remembered that ISIS leader, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi was assassinated in a U.S. raid near Idlib. He belonged to Samarra. It was a major blow to the raiders, as the troops had lost lands it held in Iraq and Syria in various military defeats led by the U.S. alliance and Syrian & Iraq alliance.
This area is a part of the region which was under Turkey’s administration for chasing Kurdish troops and ISIS militants (which were started in 2016) after military infiltration.
It should be remembered that Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi was killed in an operation carried out by U.S. Special Forces after the approval from Donald Trump. According to the senior officials of Pentagon, Al-Baghdadi was killed during a secret operation in the Syrian area, Idlib.
