Wuhan and the north-eastern province of Jilin in China reported new coronavirus cluster after the lockdown was lifted. Five news new cases were reported on Monday after the first case was confirmed since April 3.
In addition to this, Shulan city in Jilin province, near the borders with Russia and North Korea, reported 11 new cases.
Wuhan is the epicenter from where coronavirus emerged. However, China has eased lockdown measures in recent weeks as cases were decreasing. The small cluster has been reported since the end of strict lockdown measures on April 8.
Health authorities and experts warn another rise in cases as people move freely outside.
Authorities said that the small cluster had emerged from all the same residential compound.
According to the reports, Shulan city announced a martial law and went into lockdown as new cases were reported. The government had allowed all public places to be temporarily closed.
People have been asked to stay at homes and only one family member is permitted to go out.
The government has also closed all public transport and taxis are not allowed to go outside the city.
China and Russia have been accused by the US of developing cooperation in spreading false narratives about coronavirus pandemic.
Lea Gabrielle, the coordinator of the State Department’s Global Engagement Center, which tracks foreign propaganda, said, “Even before the Covid-19 crisis we assessed a certain level of coordination between Russia and the PRC (Peoples Republic of China) in the realm of propaganda,”
She added, “But with this pandemic, the cooperation has accelerated rapidly,”
